Blue Economy Project Update - September 7

A lot has happened with the Blue Economy Project since our kickoff on July 1. The goals of the project's first year include cataloguing blue economy assets in the region, creating a long-term plan for leveraging those assets for entrepreneurial growth and employment, and outreach to stakeholders and the community at large.

Thanks to the hard work of summer intern Sean Antonuccio, we have a great start identifying those Blue assets. Sean also updated the Blue Economy Mind Map which begins to show how we are all connected by our Culture of Blue.

We had our first Blue Economy Steering Committee gathering on August 25th. This diverse group included harbormasters, scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, local and state officials, researchers and representatives from many engaged Cape Cod region organizations. The team was updated on progress to date, and a brainstorming session produced numerous ideas for the project going forward.

Outreach has seen the launch of a new website for the Blue Economy Project at, as well a new logo, and new social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter @capeblueeconomy, LinkedIn Group). We are actively sharing news about the Blue Economy from the region and welcome your engagement, as well!

We are in the process of planning listening sessions throughout the Cape & Islands region this fall to engage the public around the Project's efforts. Stay tuned to our website and social media for updates.
