About the Foundation

The Cape Cod Blue Economy Foundation, Inc. was created as a non-profit to develop funds to implement the Cape Cod Blue Economy Project Implementation and Action Plan.  This report was developed over the course of a year with multiple stakeholder and community input sessions and covers a geographic area defined as the towns on Cape Cod proper (over the bridge)(Barnstable County), the towns on the island of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket as well as southern Plymouth County.  This report was commissioned by the Cape Cod Blue Economy Project, an initiative of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. through the Massachusetts Seaport Economic Council, to examine the region’s water-based economy and to propose actions that will advance it.

Through the work of the Foundation, the region will strive to achieve our collective vision of the future:

The Cape Cod region is driven by the water that surrounds us, steeped in maritime tradition and dedicated to innovation. We are a modern water-based economy that connects people to their environment, inspires learning, and exports our knowledge to the world.

To achieve this vision, the Blue Economy Foundation will focus work in the following three areas:

VIBRANT MARITIME
A vibrant maritime and technology economy
HEALTHY WATER
Healthy water, healthy communities
Cape Cod EDUCATION
A prepared and educated workforce for the future
